Hi. My name is Karen Skidmore and I know exactly how you feel right now. When I sent out my first email newsletter it went to 50 friends and family. Setting up my newsletter template, knowing what to write about, deciding when to send it out – these were huge head scratching hurdles I had to jump over.
But over the past six years, my list has grown and grown and grown. And my email newsletter is now the backbone to my marketing. My email newsletter has allowed me to have sell-out workshops, make online sales from my workbooks and courses, as well as promote my 1-2-1 services constantly and consistenly throughout the year.

How does this online course actually work?
This “How To Do Email Newsletters” programme is hosted on a platform called JigsawBox. JigsawBox is a secure website, that hosts online courses such as this one. Once you have registered for the programme, you will be automatically taken to a login page for JigsawBox.
You decide on your login name and a private password and away you go. Once you’ve logged in, you will see all your modules displayed. Just click in to each one, read and work your way through and answer any questions set out for you.
All your answers are automatically saved and you are free to download or print off any sections you wish.
And all my answers to your questions are easy to view right there in each module.

What happens to my personal support after 6 weeks?
I’ll still be around, don’t worry. But this programme was designed to be completed in 4 weeks, so 6 weeks should be plenty of time to answer all your questions.
You’ll still have access to the material for as long as you need it. It’s yours to refer back to over the coming months. But I want to nag and push you – sorry, motivate and inspire you :O) – to make your email newsletter happen.
So if you want my personal support, you will have to stick to the timetable!

What’s your commitment to this programme?
Each week contains a number of modules for you to work through and answer set questions. Think of this online course as the place to download all your thoughts, ideas and plans that you can keep coming back to again and again – far better than dozens of scribbled post-it notes and scrappy to-do lists!
At the end of each week’s module there are simple suggested actions for you to take which will enable you to stay on track and make sure you get your email newsletter published and sent out.
I can’t make you do these suggested actions, of course. That’s down to you. I can only share with you this information and offer my own email newsletter experience over the past six years. Reading and learning is not enough to make your newsletter happen – you need to take action too!

How long does each weekly module take?
Each module is designed to take you between 2 and 4 hours a week. Some of you will whiz through, whilst I know there may be some of you who take a little longer on a particular module.
But it is important that you do make the time to work through each module. And make the time to take each action too.
You don’t want “Do Email Newsletter” on your to-do list for another 3 months, do you?
And if you stick to the timetable, you will benefit from having me supporting you through this.

How quickly can you work through this programme?
You have got the first two weeks of modules already for you when you log in. Then Week 3 will automatically appear after 3 weeks and Week 4 after 4 weeks of you starting.
I know some of you may feel you want to work through these modules more quickly than one a week (and if you really want to have everything right upfront, then do get in touch and let me know).
But the last thing I want you feel is overwhelmed with too much information.
I am sure you have plenty of other projects, client work and “stuff” to be juggled and if only you had the luxury of focusing solely on this email newsletter!

What happens if you’ve suddenly got to drop out of this programme and put this project on hold for a few weeks?
Running your own business throws curve balls at you when you least expect them, doesn’t it? I know from personal experience that, even with the best intentions, clients demand your attention, kids get sick or you have take off to sort out a major problem.
If you seriously feel you can’t continue with the programme over the next 4 weeks, then email me. As explained already, this programme is here for you for as long as you need it – it won’t go away. Do you have to have a website before starting this email newsletter programme?
Your website will be an integral part to your email newsletter promotion and is certainly essential to have at some point. But to be honest, it’s a little like asking whether it’s the egg or the chicken that came first.
You can’t have one without the other and you have to start somewhere. One business owner did attend one of the Bootcamps without having a live website and found the work that she did in Week One on customer profiling, was critical to her website success; as well as understanding how to position her email newsletter on her website, which is covered Week Three.
You don’t want to have a website that doesn’t support your email newsletter, so if you want to get started on creating your email newsletter first before your website, than that’s perfectly OK (and will probably benefit your website planning, too).

What if you already have an email newsletter but you want to know how to get it working better for you?
If you have already dabbled in email newsletters and signed up for a system such as Constant Contact, Aweber or Mailchimp, then this programme is still right for you.
What results are you getting? Are you getting lots of “lovely article” comments but very little in the way of enquiries? I know I struggled with this for the first 6 months. Everyone seemed to like what I was sending out, but I wasn’t get one enquiry or business lead from them.
Perhaps you are struggling to attract more than a couple of subscribers a week.
This programme isn’t just about deciding which email newsletter system to use. It has been designed to take you through the email newsletter set-up process PLUS the writing of the content and the growing of your mailing list.
