Is September the new January?
After having most of the summer off it’s now back to school and back to work.
Even though I haven’t been at school for more than 23 years, I still get suckered in to all the stationery special offers. I may not need my protractor or compass any more but there’s nothing lovelier than the smell of new paper as you open up your shiney new notepad and write with your new sharpened pencils.
Now that I have got both my children back at school, I find myself back at my desk again re-energised and raring to go. And this is why I prefer September to January for the month to re-focus my goal and planning out the next 12 months.
Post Christmas is easy to feel over indulged and tired. After all that eating, drinking and merriment do you really think I am ready to jump back on to the saddle again when my jeans won’t do up? Absolutely not!
But September is an entirely different matter. Left over tans and just-about-able-to-wear-flip-flop weather make the whole business planning and goal setting far more conducive.
So January – you can stick your New Year resolutions. I prefer my September resolutions.
It’s good to be back :O)

I feel the same way, – plus for me in September i’m raring to go or the new planting season, whereas in January i’ve still got 2-3 months of dreary weather and extra layers to cope with. Still got 2 more days of school holidays to get through first tho’

I’ve always preferred September to any other time of year. So enjoyable driving to work watching the leaves start to turn… and I’m now back to being a student again, with a brand new, virgin, untouched, clean, white writing pad, just waiting for my marketing notes to disfigure and violate it.
